#2 Diesel
Standard Distillate · Most Common Grade
The industry standard for heavy-duty equipment. #2 diesel offers the highest energy content of common grades, making it the go-to fuel for construction equipment, generators, and long-haul trucks operating in moderate to warm climates. Most diesel engines are designed to run on #2.
#1 Diesel
Winter Grade · Low-Temp Formula
#1 diesel has a lower viscosity and a lower gel point than #2, making it ideal for cold-weather operations. It's commonly used during winter months in northern climates or at high altitudes where equipment must start and run reliably in sub-freezing temperatures.
Dyed Diesel
Off-Road / Tax-Exempt
Dyed red with a federal marker dye, off-road diesel is chemically identical to #2 on-road diesel but is tax-exempt because it's intended solely for non-highway use. It's the most cost-effective fuel choice for job-site equipment, generators, and agricultural machinery that never hits public roads.
